day. September 27th, 1912 will
carry sorrow into many H^rry

interest in all things pertaining to
the betterment of the condition of
Horry and its people. On more
than one occasion he has lent a helping
hand in carrying forward movements
for the public good, In his
death the county has lost a yalued
friend.
The proposition to hold public
meetings of the town council of
Oonway is an innovation of the
municipal affairs of the town, and
me calculated to bring the town officers
and the people into closer relationship
and establish a better feeling
between the two. The outcomp
>vill doubtless bo that the two elements
will work more harmoniously
.ngether for the furtherance of all
public and private enterprises having
fur th?ir object the upbuilding of
Ionway. Nothing but good can
possibly result from such a move.

A COUNTY FAIR.
Why cannot the Tomato Club
Girls, the Corn Club Boys and the
public spirited cititens of Horry
iomo together aud agree upon soms
plan to organise a county fair assoiation?
The agricultural interest
of tbe county is receiving more and
oetter attention than ever before,
mproved methods are beiDg more
generally used aud there could be ?o
oe more potent factor in increasing
ur interest, widening and broadening
cur knowledge in all matters
o^r'aining to agriculture than a
^ood county fair. Horry can and
has produced as good specimens of
farm products as any ccunfcy in the
Union, which has been proven on
Lore than one occasion where its
products have come in competition
with those of other sections of the
ountry; its berries stt nds pre-eml
neatly at the head of those of any
jtfcer seotion, and its other products
easily ranks at the head of
those of any othercountv. For our
good, the good of our posterity and
the good of our county we hare too
long labored so hard to hide our
light under a bushel and st iven ve y
successfully so far to keep our left
uand from knowing what our right
hand does, aud the time is now at
nat?d when our interest demand that
/ e branch off on another aud more
' . rosperous read. As a starter a
county fair would be the moans of
