In Memoriam.
Mrs Alha A White, wife of Mr M
White, departed this life Suuday,
April 28 h, at 10:55 a rn., at her
home in Fort Meade, after several
months of sullering, which she patiently
endured with Christian fortitude.
Atha A Mills was born in Columbus
county, N C., December 23rd.
1850. She was married May 30,
1882, to Mr M White, by Jackson
Powell, Lsq , deacon in Mt Sinai
Baptist church, of which she had
been a constant member from early
life, having joined it about fifteen
years of age. Her membership was
, in this church at the time of her
death.
When the end came she was surrounded
by the whole family, seven
sons and one daughter, all of whom
reside in this city. About 3 years
ago Joel, Luther and John came to
Fort Meade, they wore followed at
intervals by the other brothers,
Oliver, Fernie, Charles and Fulton,
and their one sister named above.
A large audience attested their
esteem to the dead and her estimable
family by attending the funeral
in the Baptist church Monday
morning, which was preached by
Rev W D Turnley. Interment was
in the city cemetery. The text

taken from tne qook oi joo was peculiarly
suited to her patient endurance
and deep piety. Like Dorcas
of old, her good deeds praise her,
and the large family of husband,
daughter, seven sons, all members
of the Baptist church, await the
resurrection morn.
May her momory long cheer and
inspire them; and may the consolation
of God's grace abide with her
sorrowing companions.
W D Turnley.

Talking about the high prices of
land near Con way, in reference to the

that a small tract had been
purchased near the farm of E. B.

acre, it is now stated on good au
thority, that Mr. Wesley has been
offered throe times that price for his
holdings out there and which offer
he has positively refused.
