The grand jury has come out
strongly in favor of the retention of
the poor farm and the present site
for the new steel bridge across
Kingston lake. It also highly cornplimented
Supervisor Murrell for
his untiring elTorts to improve the
public works of the county at the
least expense to the taxpayers.
This year promises to a very ex
citing one as regards politics. With
Roosevelt up i\orth with his <;hat
in the ring" daring Taft to touch]it;
in the South Blease standing with a
chip on his shouldrr inviting Jones
to knock it off, and the local politicians
bustling around to find the
longest pole with which to knock
down the persimmon, we mav reason

ably expect squally times in local
and national politics.
Senator Tillman seems desirous
that the delegation from this State
to the National Democratic convention
go to Baltimore uuin&trcted as
to the choice of this State between
the candidates for President of the
United States. He does not want
a Jones delegation, nor a Blease delegation,
nor not even a Tillman
one. The kaleidoscope turns and
throws vari-coiored scenes upon the
political background. It was comparatively
only a few years ago
