Arthur McQueru, a negro employee
at the lumber mills at Allen,
J5. C , while at a fishery near Myrtle
Beach last Sunday, was shot five
times by J) C Johnson, four of the
shots taking1 effect, ami causing injuries
from which the negro may
die.
Mr Johnson was walking up the
strand nearly a mile from Myrtle
* Beach, near the fishery of M Ii
Nance who was in company with
Johnson. Before arriving at the
place where the shooting occurred,
they heard the report of a pistol
several times, and as they came
nearer saw four negroes standing
together in a group. As they passed,

replied that it was none of his business.
