Conway has the reputation among
the growers of tobacco as being one
of the best markets in the State and
is sustaining that reputation to the
satisfaction of tho seller of thr
weed.
We learn sub rosa that the firm
which has the contract to build the
new bridge across the Waccamaw
n ar the site of the "Old Shipyard,"
has sent'a man here to superintend
its construction and his presence
in our midst is daily expected, when
work on it will begin immedi

us rapidly as good work and substantial
construction will permit. Tt
now appears that after years of vexatious
delays and bitter disappointments
the hopes of the people are
to be realized by the completion of
the project which is to bring the
people of All Saints Parish and
Conway into closer business and
social relations which will prove advantageous
to all sections of the
county.
We hope that it will not prove to
be the case, yet we very much fear
that in the way of promoting enterprises
Conway has too many irons
in the lire and some of them, if not
all, are sure to be burnt. There has
been a great deal of talk about this
and that enterprise and for awhile
we become alive, active and on fire
with enthusiasm, but like the passing
storm we soon spend ourselves
and become lethargic, our activity
ceases and our enthusiasm
dies down and we realize that there
has been more talk than results, j
It seems to us that the better plan
would be to concentrate our energies
in the promotion of that enter-1
prise promising the largest returns
and with an united purpose and an
unwaving determination 4'keep a
hamuH ring" at it until weshallhive
accomplished that which we have
undertaken to do, aud when this is
done take up another enterprise and
push it along until that also becomes
an accomplished fact.

Mr J L Sims, editor and proprietor
of the Orangeburg Times and
Democrat, recently spent a week
end at Myrtle Beach and expressed
himself as being delighted with the
charms of Horry's popular seaside
