In nearly every instance the appearance
of the harem skirt woman

unmistakable demonstration from
the male portion of the population
adverse to the immodest garb.

Lyon, as the man to oppose Cole
L Blease in his race next year for reelection
as Governor. This is the
biggest joke of the season. Mr
Lyon is the man who nearly eight

the Stato if they made him Attorney
General he would put stripes on
the alleged dispensary grafters aud
after junketing all over the country
at the expense of the people and
spending thousands of dollars of the
people's money succeeded in making
a water haul. If this is the man selected
''to beat Blease" we may as
well lay away the shovel and the
hoe and allow Blease to make the
race unopposed.
The folly of attempting to charge
a republican form of government into
a government by commission is once
more forcibly brought to the atten
tion of the people of Conway in the
sewer and water works proposition

construct a sewer and water works
system for the town and twice was
the proposition favorably voted upon
aud from that day till this has the
expressed will of the people been
carried out. In regard to health
conditions, convenience, as well as a
protection in case of fire, these improvements
are an absolute necessity
and our people, be it said to their
credit, have so clearly shown on
two separate occasions their appreciation
of that necessity that their
verdict cannot possibly be misunder

abiding faith in its judgment. Its
only object in calling attention to
this commission idea of government
is because it believes it to b(
antagonistic to our republican form

with the time honored principles of
the Democratic party and violates
the spirit, if not the letter, of the
Constitution, and the Supreme Courl
has so declared, and any departure
from the mandates of that sacred
instrument, either in letter or spirit
or both places in jeopardy the life
the liberty and the property of the
citizen. Let us get and keep in the
middle of the road.

one day recently and lodged
in the county jail under a similar
