The first symptom of industrial
unrest is political unrest. The second
is the universal rebellion against
the cost of living, ana nnany cumua
the era of strikes, which is the fever
itself. Bat the muj >rity of us unskilled
laborers, farmers, clerks and
small proprietors never go into
strikes simply because we havener
the weapons of the big professional
men nor of the Union, as we haven't
fallen into the habit uf calling ourselves
a clan. We are simply woven
into all classes. We know very
well that through taxation we pay
our share of the misery and waste
of every deficiency brought on by
idle and indifTerent officers and
. rarely do we rise and ask where we
* come in? For the most part we are
^ content to act the part of the cheerful
audience. The politicians demand
sympathy, and I believe in
giving the devil his ' dues I do
think that Supervisor Murrell deseiyes
all the sympathy and support
that we are copable of giving him
for the good he has been doing the
county in making some good pieces
of road deep te ihe jabbering publie
who is saying thai he is making
good roads for the benefit of auto
owners. Most of us cannot afford
ride in an automob;le, but we can
arid do use ihe roads wiih equal or
more pleasure. For anything thai
looks good to me is to see a team of
mules ?te| ping along a good road

and team seem to be playing push

along to the satisfaction of the
driver. Because our teams are
afraid of automobiles and wthat we
are prt judice against auto" owners,
we suouid not attempt to injure the
name of our good Supervisor who
built the roads. I am sure 1 would
rather meet an automobile every
' mile from borne to Con way than to
pull a load from 'Brown Swamp to
Jack Jones', on the Dog Bluff road,
and my^mules are as afraid of automobiles
as any ones' are. 1 wish
Mr Murrell would appoint a live
overseer on that section of road,
