The death angtl visited our fire-'

brother to live with God in the beautiful
beyond, free from sorrow, toil
or care. But we do not m )urn as

tie was born March 4th, 1831. In
early life ho joined the Missionary
Baptist church and h is since lived a
beautiful Christian life till the day
of his death. In whatever place he
lived there he was found in Christian
toclety and did his best to live an
example for others, d >ing all he
could in the cause of Christ and the
upbuilding of his kingdom. Ho was
for several years Colpcrter fcr the
Baptist S S B >ard, and distributed

many useiui oioks in m? m^uv
homes he visited. His delight was
always in the Lord's work
[n 1904 he received his diploma in
book-keeping. At the time of hi*
death be was a member of the senior
pharmacy class in the College i f the
State of South Carolina in Charles
ton, and had he lived he would have
graduated at the close of the term
this year. But all too socn he was
urshered into eternity without a
moments warning, but tbo devoted

smile on his dead face, are enough
to convince us that h s soul is resting
i:i the spirit land This should
be a warning t.o us to live so that
when the su nmons come to us, tho'
unexpectedly, w ? will be ready and
willing to go. He was a great admirer
of Shakes p3irri and oftentimes
repea'ed this favorite little
poem, which li\s reference in a
sense to his untimely cud, but he
pever thought it would ever come so
true to him.:

But he who filohes my good name,
Steals that, that not enriches him
An makes me poor indeed."
