There is an evor increasing demand
for the establishment of a
system of county courts. Such a
court would umjestionablv relieve
the congestion of the Circuit Court
by reason of which there is such a
wide spread complaint and dissatis
faction coming up from every county
ia the State.
Persons liable to road duly should
bear in mind that in making their
tax returns to the Auditor they are
required by law to return their liability
to work the public highways,
either "yes" or "no. " After
this it is optional with the per
son so liable to pay the commutation
lex f three dollars or in lieu
thereof work six days on the public
high w.'ivs. In I he even t he eh c;t s fc?>
take the days he must get a certificate
from Ms overseer that he had
perform.; d the required time aud
then deposit the certificate with the
County Treasurer, who in turn gives
him a receipt. Tnere is a lot of red
tape wound round this road working

Well, to the farmers of Horry:
1 hope the time is soon near for our
county to he in the front. I hope
the farmers of Horry will join
hands in an eiTorfc to strengthen the
Farmers' Union as< to be in a
position to demand,?and enforce that
(ieinaud, better prices for their pro
duce. In my opinion it would be
one of the best things ever happened
for Horry county.
Well, for fear of the waste basket

time. Hoping the health of the
county at large is good, and with
best wishes to the Herald and its
