Notes From Florida.
Mr. Editor:?Will 3011 please allow
me space in your valuable paper
for just a few items from this old
town.
Tee heal h of the people through
this community is very ?:ood.
We are not at all surprised at the
gentlemen being driven from hit
boat by mosquitoes down in the Everglades
sornt time ago, for we have
some of the pest here in north FloriiJa.
But not a single one to wba*
there is in the glades, for the writer
has experienced some of the Everglade
mosquitoes and they are a
great deal worse in Florida this season
than he ever experienced before
But the Florida Drainage Canal Co,,
wiil soon have the mosquitoes as
well as the Semenole Indians cut out
of a home in the glades. Also the
i Florida Coast Canal Company has
I about completed the inland water
! route entirely around the E ist coast
of Florida, which they have been
fi>rhtin^r so faithful for for the last 20
years. Small vessels can now run
out of all danger of the ocean waves
from Jacksonville, El a., to Key
West, El a. This canal extending
from river to river is 80 feet broad
and draws 6 feet of water.
I guess those who reside near the
coast in Horry are catching plenty
of fish. Tue writer of this article
wuh a party of too others and one
cast not caught upwards of 1000
m illets in the surf one night las!
week and left them more plentiful
than when we began.
/Y missive from tho water Mr.
Editor will bo somewhat interesting
to some of the readers of the Herald
to road this. On the 9?h day of last
September I was on North Beach
near St. Augustine, while strolling
the beach 1 found a smaM bottle
which had run ashore This bottle
was carefully corked up contained
a letter written August the 11th,
11)08 and signed by two brothers by
the name of Betlerman while on
ooard the Malery Steamship Nuceis,
asking the linder to mail a p)st card
to seven ditTerent persons, but mostly
of the same family at No. 881.
182ud Street, New York City, N. Y.
stating where and when found and
whom by, the writers states that all
the assigned names were from San
Antonia, Texas. This letter was
more than 12 months linding a land
mg phco. 1 mailed the caads as requested
but haven't as jet received
any reply. If a man could only
swim like a bottle there would not
be su many lives lost at sea.
Merrv wishes to tho Herald and
its readers,

On last Sunday, November 0th,
1.910, the home of Mr and Mrs B. F.

most delightful occasions. when

of the contracting parties. Promptly
at half past 2 o'clock the contracting
parties marched into the
parlor and stood before Magistrate
W. F. Holt, who, in his usual improssive
manner declared them man
