PJPAOK1PTJON ONE DOLLAK i'KU YEAR H, II, WOODWARD. Editor THURSDAY. OCTOBER 2(>, I9IO "We stood in our front door ono morning last week and saw coming into town three bales of cot'on drawn by four stalwart mules. They were from the sandy section of Dog 131 iIT and the mules were wet with per-pira'ion, although it was a cool morning. With a modern road to travel over these same four mules w- uld have easily drawn twe lve bales instead of three. Moral ? (let better roads, save time money and wear and tear of your teams and vehicles. I We trust that the first business the Board of Trade will undertake will be the matter of better railroad accommodations for passengers, As it is now we havo no accommodations at all. At its best the place where passengers are dumpped oil' as so many cattle, is a disgrace to any community. There is only one way to cure deafness and that is by constitutional remedies Deafness is caused by an inhumed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inflamed you have a rumbling sound or an imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely close, Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal conditiou, hearirg will be destroyed forever. Nine cases 0111 of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the raucous snrfaces. Editor Herald: I am indeed glad to know that Senator Spivey is taking so much interest in the matter of good roads, and is furnishing us a scheme whereby we people in the country can get some relief. I have studied the scheme advanced by Sen? ator Spivey and 1 have studied the plan advocated by Mr Norton. As I understand the question, it is this: Will we accept a plan which will build our roads right away and cost us no extra tax levy; or will we allow ourselves to be taxed 4 extra mills for a long farm of years before we get the roads, and then probably not iret the roads we need? 1. for one, am convinced that the Spivey plan is tlic one that we tax payers want. Mr Norton, not being a taxpayer, of course, does not care how many mills are levied. Mr Spivey is not only a tax payer, but was originally a country boy and knows the needs and wishes of the country people. He has shown in all his work, as a legislator and a business man. that he is a true friend of the people and a great believer in pushing Horry to the front, lie has studied the question carefully, and 1 am willing to trust him and the plan ho has devised, 1 say, by all means let us rally to the support of giol roads and VOTE FOR the] measure now before us, thus saying to those advocuting higher taxes that we oppos the plan of Mr Nor ton which adds to our taxes and does not give us the desired roads in the next generation.
