Obituary.
On the 14th day of May, 1010,
the death angel visited the home of
old Unclt) Reuben Gause and took
him to his eternal reward. He was
(it) years, 3 months and 3 days old.
For many years he was con lined to
his residence due to rheumatism,
For a few weeks before his death
he began to grow worse and worse
till finally the end came. All that
loving hands could do proved of no
avail. In the absence of his pastor,
the Rev D D Cox, Rev J W Todd
preached his funeral at the old home
nn the following Sunday afternoon.
Tne interment took place on Monday
morning at the cemolery near
Acy Cause's. He was joined in
wedlock to Miss Molior Barker to
which uniou no children were added.
He first connected himself to the
Macedonia Baptist church, some
years later be moved his membership
to the Beulah Baptist church
in which he proved a faithful member
till his death. He was a devoted
and confiding husband, a loving
uncle and a good neighbor. We
feel that a Christian has gone from
our midst, but we hoDe to ment him
again in the city of the new Jerusalem.

In Memory of Little Annie Belle.
The death angel visited the home
of Mr and Mrs M J Smith on Monday,
July 11th, 1910, and took their
little darling baby away. The Lord
knew best and has called her to live
with him and the bright angels in
heaven. Little Annie Belle was
born February 26th, 1909. Wecannot
wish her back, but soon we will
go and meet her where parting will
be no more. Annie Belle was the
charm of home?but the charm has
faded and our home is left desolate.
^ The Master only took this little but

WANTS GOOD ROADS.
The Property Owers Pays the Freight
to Have Them.
Editor of the Herald* 1 was glad
to see in your last issue a copy and
the explanation of Col Kpivey's
good roads bill, liolli of them are |
good and when we get the roads | j
they are going to be good. We are J
agreed that they are not reads to be
proud of now. We are also agreed
that the two mill tax scheme as in
use today is not satisfactory, O.ir
roads prove this. Now, why can't
we agree that the Senator's plan is
an excellent one? I heartily eudors"
it, believing it to be the most practical
and sensible plan for our
county.
You see the property owners will
have to build the roads, and yet the
taxes now being paid will not be increased.
It seems to me that this
is fair. Doesn't it to you? You
are going to have a chance to prove
that it does on the second Tuesday in
Nov. I hope that wc will bear this
in mind till then, remembering that
this bill aims directly to better the
condition of the farms and tho K
country people and that our taxes f
will still be the same. |
Our Supervisor deserves much g
credit for the work he has done, f
He has made a very decided improve- k
monfc over former conditions, even ||
though he labors under the difficulty i
of few funds. With CjI Spivey's !
plan adopted, he will be able to j
work to much belter advantage and j
we will have such roads as the ad-'
joining counties en-joy. ' {
Let us support this measure,there- j
by securing out* good roads and at ;
the samntimr showing our Senator j
" " " o
that we appreciate the thought ho
has pub on the matter nni the consideration
he has shown us.

J. Wesley Dunn, an aged citizen, whe

expiring where he sat in his chair,
Mr. John Coles delightfully intertained
a select crowd of Conway's
