Tt was stated here last week that
with a twelve foot channel from this
point to Georgetown, the large
lumber companies would be able to
save as much as thirty thousand
dollars a year in freight. The saving
would no doubt bo great in all

cabbage snakes, but never saw one
until a few days ago, one was sent
in tj the oil ice from Mr K W Jones,
together with the cabbage leaf upon
I which he was regaling himself when
discovered. This snake was found
by Miss F A Roberts just in the
nick of time to keep him from being
cooked. It measured about nine
inches in length and was of exactly
tho same color as the leaf upon
which he was feeding.
