The Horry II era Id, Conway, S C, Mr Ediior: I am not discouraged in the least by that great air casile which Mr Singleton built in the columns of your paper two weeks ago I have always seen air castles buili high in the air, but, like Mr SingleIon's, they were without framework and not very much foundation. To build an air castle that will hold three hundred and fifty bushels of corn, it takes a boy with a broad (!) broad (!!) mind; but, boys, remember it is not full yet, If Mr Singleton gets his full amount of corn be will be the honorable heir to heir to that six dollar fountain pen. but I am sure he will not get it. and then, you see, it will be up to me. Again, if Mr Singleton has seen the letters ,4W B S" on any of Mr Epps' fountain pons, it was sure on the four or five dollar one. "C iN E" is standing firm yet to adorn the the gold mount of the six dollar pen. Mr Singleton's article resembles two girls celebrating the Fourth of July, one wearing a silk dress and a paper dress was worn by the other. In the morning the paper shone bright and gained the admiration of the on-lookers, but by noon time there came a light sprinkle of rain, then the paper dress did ttop and fade into seme of the most unfashionable ways. It is now almost made, and nothing will destroy it except a storm or a cow, and these are not probable, for this is not the season of the year for storms and it is enclosed by a good fence. My corn was planted in five foot rows, 18 inches in the drill, making about six thousand and two hundred stalks. If any one wishes to know how much it will make let him ligure for himself, then if you miss it I will not be to blame, It will average three good ears to the stalk and I think 144 ears will make a bushel. When I got a peck from Superintendent Brown to plant, it contained thirty-six ears, which is 144 per bushel. I have put ten loads of stable manure to my corn, which is worth $10. I have also put $10 worth of commercial fertilizers and $0 worth of cotton seed to it. i he work cost $8, making the total cost only $84.00, 1 extend a cordial invitation to all, aud especially to Mr Singleton,to come and visit my corn. A Word from Sand Rldf e Editor Herald: Will you please allow me a space for a few words from the old Sand Iiidgeas I haven't seen anything from here lately. Farmers are fighting General Green since the recent rains. Health is not so good at this writing. Miss Eva Dubois is very ill at this writing. Hope to see her out again soon as she is much missed on our streets. John Clifton, one of the Conway Lumber Company's head men is very sick. Mrs W. H. Davis has been very but we are glad to see her out again. Haskell Todd and John Adamsi were seen in our section lust Sunday. The young people seem to enjoy the excursions to the beach On Monday everything seems perfectly quite.
