Editor Herald: Will you please
allow me space in your much esteemed
columns for a few words
from this place.
The Ion# dry spell of four months
was broken by a good shower on the
8th inst, and we had another yesterday
which was much needed.
Mrs T. J. Newman, of this place
died yesterday of consumption. Sb i
leaves a husband, three sons, two
daughters and a host of relative*
and friends to mourn their loss
Farmers are about through shipping
peaches. The returns were
vorv noor ranging from 00c. to

I would like to say a few words to
my Horry friends, who are writing
to me for advice and the localities
of Florida. The best thing for them
to do is to come and see for them
selves. Like all other countries,
some places are good and some are
very sorry. Seville )s a high, hilly
country and as healthy as any place
in the United States, Wages are
good, owing to occupation. Farming
$1 25 per dav; railroading $1 25
to $1 75; saw milling $1 25 to $2 25
and on that way.
We are located 25-miles from the
ocean and 180-miles from the gulf
Fruit and vegatable growing is our
main industry. While I think it is
far ahead of South Carolina, some
may not, and while I hesitate to advise
anyone to come, I will say this
is the best poor mans country in
the world,
I am glad to see the members of
the W. O. W, Camp at Loris, take
so much interest in the upbuilding

We are glad to note that the Farmers'
Warehouse is now about complete.
The building will be ready
to receive tobacco, we are told, by
July 1st. The company has done
well in pushing the house to com
pletion in the short time it has had
to do this work in. An inspection
of the building shows it to be up-to
date, very commodious and convenient
in every respect.
