THE BAPTIST CONVENTION.
j Rev J M Plemlnr Writes InterestInjrly
of tills Body.
\ Let every reader of the Herald
understand in the outset that our
write up is by no manner of means
exhaustive. The mere mention of
one particular suggests another,
and our purpose in writing at all,
is that more people throughout the
county may know something of
what was done.
The Lyric Theatre, where are
meetings were held, has a seating
capacity of 2,600 and often it failed
W7 to accommodate the crowds.
' ^ All the speeches were of a high
order and the spirit of every meeting
was fine.
The next meeting will be in Jacksonville,
Florida, beginning May 17,
1911, and Dr C S Gardner, of Kentucky,
is to preach the sermon.
Our Home Mission Board had on
the field an entire force of 1,182
workers and their reports showed
52,910 additions to the churches under
their management. The net receipts
to this department of our
work showed that we gave last year
$329,475. an increase over the pre
vious year of 125,000, or 141 per
cent, above the receipts of 1905;
and yet the average per capita is
only 15 cents.
Dr J P Love, one of the field
secretaries west of the Mississippi,
gave us an example of missionary
success. Hear him: "I preacheu
to a crowd of Mexicans through
Rev C D Daniel and twelve were received
for baptism, and through
five inter ureters to a crowd of Indians,
ana forty-nine were added to
the church as a result. They came
dressed in white and would say,
'this means that Indian will live a
white life after his baptism.' "
Rev C D Daniels, Superintendent
of our work in El Paso, Texas, is
called Dr B D Gray "The Prophet
Daniel, who can read the hand writing
on the wall when others fail."
Mr Barozio, of Mexico, delivered an
interesting speech interpreted by
Dr C D Daniel. He said a Baptis*
convention would be organized in
Mexico next summer and Southern
Baptists to send a delegate. Mr
Moses N McCall, of Cuba, delivered
a most powerful address in behalf of
his people who have been so long under
the domination of Roman Catholicism.
Now. a brief mention of our For
eign Mission work. There were
3,223 additions to the churches and
we gave $501,058.84. ? It was pathetic
to hear the missionaries of China,
Japan, Africa and Brazil.
None, however, wer9 more interesting
than the speech of Mr Yoruba
Chiba? Superintendent of our
theological seminary in Japan. He
spoke in English and was very fluent
Then Mr W P Soren, of Ilio Do Janeiro,
Brazil, said that his city was
composed of a population of more
than a million souls. He said there
was an average of thirty baptisms
to the missionaries in Brazil last
year, or more than three to one on
any other field. His church ten
years ago gave $250, but gave last
year $4,200. He further stated that
nearly all our churches over there
are self sustaining, but they needed

the States.
Southern Baptists set for their
goal the coming year $600,000 to
foreign missions, and $400,000 to
home missions, and we greatly desire
that every church in the dear
old motluer (Wacoamaw) association
will do her level best to bring the
kingdom of the blessed Christ
nearer.
Just think! 10,0000 churches
within the bounds of our southern
territory that gave nothing to misg
sions last year! It is our hope that
\ they in some way will come to see
their duty and do it. 500 churches
with a membership of 50,000 came
to our convention from the Northern
convention, These are in southern,
Illinois.
We will tell something about Baltimore
in our next.

DAYS OF DIZZINESS
Come lo Hundreds of Conwa>
People.
There are days of dizziness;
Spells of headache, sideache, back
ache;
Sometimes rheumatic pains;
Often urinary disorders.
All tell you plainly the kidneys
are ill.
Doan Kidney Pills cure all kidney
ills.
Can Conway residents doubt this
statement?
MrsG E Lupo, Dozierst., Marion,
S C,t says: 41I never used a remedy
that gave me such relief as Doan's
Kidney Pills. I suffered severely
from dull backaches and sharp pains
through my kidneys. J also bad
headaches and dizzy spells and often
arose in the morning feeling tired
and little like doing my work: My
kidneys were weak and the secretions
from these organs were unnatural.
I used but one box of Doan's
Kidney Pills but received the best
of results.
For sale by all dealers. Price 50
cents. Foster-Milburn Co., Buffalo,
New York, sole agents for the
United States.
Remember the name?Doan's?
and take no other.

A Woman's Great Idea
is how to make herself attractive.
But without health it is hard for her
to be lovely in face, form or temper.
A weak sickly woman will be nerj
vous and irritable. Constipation
and kidney poisons show in pimples,
blotches, skin eruptions and a
wretched complexion. But Electric
Bitters always prove a God send to
women who want health, beauty and
friends. They regulate Stomach,
Liver and Kidneys, purify the blood;
give strong nerves, oright eyes,
fjure breath, smooth velvetry skin,
ovely complexion, good health. Try
them. 50c. at Norton Drug Co.
