TIIRUSDAY, JUNE 2, 1010.
Tho reoent grand jury for ilorry
county went for the blind timers
with a big stick.
The comet has ceased to be an object
of interest to the inhabitants
on this tcrreslial globe.
We hear Sub Rosa that work on
the proposed bridge across the Waccamaw
river will soon be#in.
Judge Gage was greatly impressed
he said with the great progiess
made hero since his former trip to
Conway as presiding Judge.
A one hundred thousand dollar hotel
modernly equppied with electric
bell calls, telephone in every room,
liveried servants, elegantly furnished
apartments aid other conveniences,
is one of the possibilities of
Conway in the near future.
Up to the time of going to press
with these forms nothing definite
has been heard concerning the Sun- j
a ay trains to Myrtle ?5eacn, so it is I
not known whether these popular
excursions will be put on or not this
year.
It is said that Capt Scott is promoting
an expedition the object of
which is to di scover the South pole.
Two necessary adjuncts are necessary
for the success of Capt Scott and
for him to be decorated by a couple
of scientic bodies?to have the

Department and a "Nigger in the
wood pile."
According to some the Democrats
will sweep the fall elections, oust
Cannon and put Bill Taft on the
trot. We only hope such will be the
result. But, then, this can he accomplished
more by] hard and effective
work and less chin music else
wo will soon witness the two wings
of the g. o. p. flopping together in
uniscnand the result will be as
heretofore ?a Republican victory.

United States?Tilden and Cleveland,
The first of these was cheated
out of the fruits of his victory by
the infamous findings f the eight
to seven coinmiss'on and tho inauguration
of Rutherford B Hayes, the
Republican candidate, contrary to
the expressed will of a majority of
the voters, by which the greatest
political fraud in American history
was consumatcd, and the other sold
his birthright for a mess of pottage
by issuring gold bonds in times of
peace contrary to the tencnts and
the time honored principles of the
Democractic party.

Died.
On the night of the 10th of May.
1010. the death angel visited the
home of Mr and M S Pridgeon and
took from the no their darling son,
tlarnos. He was spared to live with
us only one year and fourteen
months, lie was sick fuurteen days
with dtyseniary. The doctors attended
him but after all the attentive
nursing it was soon seen that
nothing but death could relieve the
little sulTerer, and about 12 o'clock
on the night abovo mentioned he
breathed his last. His remains were
laid away to rest on the following
Friday afternoon in the cemetery
near Henry Hammond's. It was
hard to give him up but the Lord
knew best. We hope that wo will
meet him again whore we will meel
to part no more.
The darling one from is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place made vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.
Follow this advice.
Quaker Oats is the best of all foods;
it is also the cheapest. When such
men as Prof. Fisher of Yale University
s-nd Sir James Crichton Browne,
LL. D.-F.R.S. of London spend the
best parts of their lives in studying
the great question of the nourishing
and strengthening qualities of different
foods, it is certain that their advice is
absolutely safe to follow.
Professor Fisher found in his experiments
for testing the strength and
endurance of athletes that the meat
eaters were exhausted long before the
men who were fed on such food as
Quaker Oats. The powers of endurance
of the non-meat eaters were
about eight times those of the meat
eaters.
Sir James Crichton Browne says?
eat more oatmeal, eat plenty of it and
eat it frequently. 59

hermetically sealed tins for hot climates.
