set- on foot yesterday by the Chamber
of Commerce for a through passenger
train service from Conway,
S G., to Wilmington via Cbadbourn,
and the ease and economy upon
which such service can be a Horded
by the Atlantic Coast Line since
the recent inauguration of the additional
service on the Conway
branch, is expected to result in a
speedy compliance with the rt quest
of the large business interest here
which would benefit by the adoitional
of this service. I

addressed a communication to Vice
President John \i Kenly, of the Atlantic
Coast Line, setting forth
the advantages of the continuation
th0 train which now lies over at
Chadbourn to Wilmington and re-1
questing that this service be inau- I
gurated, Such an extension would j
furnish an opportunity for the peo-!
pie through the fine section of the
country which the 1 tie traverses to
spend the entire day in Wilmington
and return home the same evening,
whereas at present it is necessary to
visitors from that s. ction who 1mve
large business c nn ctions in W 1iinugtou,
to come to Chad bourn and
await the regular train from Columbia
several hours later and which
does not arrive in Wilmington until
the afternoon. Then the visitor
who cannot terminate his business
engagement with a hop, skip and a
jump must needs remain here all
night and return on the early morning
train the following day, although
a day schedule is open to the south
and really takes business away uum
Wilmington. It would mean a big
thing to Wilmington and ibose who
are wont to discant upon the at sence
of visitors to the city for this
or that reason would find in the
Conway t4Shoo-fly" a new incentive
for business men from that section
to come hero.
The train leaves Conway at 7 a
' m daily and arrives at Chadbourn
less than two hours later, where it
is understood it remains dead on
the track until afternoon. If the
train were continued to Wilmington
arriving here ut 10 or 11 o'clock in
the morning, it could be operat? d
on the return, leaving Wilmmgb n
about 6 or 7 p m,, and it is believ* d
that it would soon prove the justification
for its operation both in service
to the thicklv populated section
between Wilmington and Conway
and to the railroad company in

community but merchants and planters
along the line are heartily joining
in the movement for the train.
It is hoped and believed that the
Coast L?ne officials will at once see
it to their interest to grant this concession

great system, but is one of ti e
largest freight originating points
on its line.
