In /Vtemorlain,
On March 2, 1910, at 5 o'clock, the
death angel visited the home of our
dear brother, W F Clardy, and
claimed him as his victim and bore
his spirit to the rest that remains
for the people of G >d
VV F Clardy was born January 25,
18.SU, and at the time or nis aeain
he was twenty-eight years, one
month and five days old. At a re
vival meeting at Sweet water Branch
chureb, he was converted, joined the
church, and was baptised by Rev H
J Fowler, and lived a consistent
Christian. He was an enthusiastic,
earnest and active Sunday school
worker, and in the prayer meeting
he was a powerful worker and was
always found in these stated meetings,
except providentially prevented,
laboring faithfully to promote
the cause of Christ and to plant the
blood stained banner of Jesus, his
Saviour, upon the rampants of sin
and vice and corruption. He was
one of the trustees of the church
to which ho belonged and to his
effective efforts through the power
and blessings of G >d is due much
of the credit for the upbuilding and
growth in grace of the church.
lie had been in feeble health for
three or four years and was under
the treatment of several doctors.
He was able to be up and about his
work till a month or so before the
end came. He bore his afflictions
with Christian fortitude and as the
shades of the evening of life began
to gather and grow thick and thicker
around his dying couch his faith
on the everlasting promises of God
never wavered. And with his lamp
trimmed and burning he went out
to meet the bridegroom and to make
his triumphal entry into that city
not made with hands eternai in the
heavens.
All that a loving wife, a tender
mother, affectionate brothers, sisters
and friends, and the faithful attendance
of a skillful physician
could do was done to help him bear
his a Motion and keep him with us
for a season, but the icy hand of
death could not be stayed; his la

and the summons issued from
the court of heaven to come up
higher and rest in the shade of the
Great White Throne.
His remains were laid to rest in
the Centenary c< metery where his
funeral was preached by Rev W J
Langston, of the Conwav Baptist
church to a very large congregation,
using as the basis of his remarks
John xiii:7, He leaves a wife, three
children, a mother, four brothers
two sisters and a host of frionds to
