THRUSDAY. MARCHiM, 1910.
Speaking of tho progress of the
South, President "William Howard
Taft said, on St Patrick's Day, in
Chicago: *\1 like to dwell upon that
because down in tho South there
was a time when she was hindered
and had semi ugly little chance of
any real progress. But now she is
making more progress than any of
us, East, West or North. And 1
know that you, Northerners that
you are, welcome that fact because
you realize that there was a time
when she did not nave quite a fair
show."
The Herald is glad to note that
thero is ono at least of Conway's enterprises
that will have an existence
no alone upon paper. Anyhow,
Messrs A C Thompson, .1 E Coles
an'! Li H Burroughs, the corporator
q have advertised the books
op< n to receive subscriptions to the
capital stock of a new tobacco warehouse
which it is proposed tn build
here. Wo wish the now enterprise
a e vfe launching and a prosperous
vo; age.

It is easy to break a good hammer
handle in drawing long nails. After
starring the nail an inch or so just
place a bit of wood under the head
of the hammer, raising it up say an
inch, and you can pull your nail
