A full account of the illness of the stricken senior Senator of South Carolina was published in the last issue of the Herald and no doubt its readers are in possession of the details of the Senator's sickness. The first news of the Senator's illness east a gloom of sorrow all over the State, and we may add the civilized world, and the second news from his bedside turned that sorrow into hope and joy for he occupies an unique position in State and National politics and his death would have removed a leading character in the comedy of politics In cvorv contest ill which ITorrv has entered in competition with her sister counties she has in every instai ce come out wearing the vie tor's wreath of laurel. She has time and again taken honors from her competitors through the earnest and zealous < iTorts of Miss Lottie Harrchon and her faithful co-laborers in theSchool Improvement work. Among those from a distance were Misses Bertha and Florence Fowler, of Tabor, N C.; Misses Lizzie and Dessie Shelly and brothers, of Pleasant Viow, Mr Archie Floyd, of Oulivants Ferry and Mr Joe Cannon, of Cero Gordo. Mr and Mrs J W V\ ard are visiting their son, L C Ward, of Nichols. Mr Willie Porter passed through this section Sunday aftei noon on his way to Florence, S C , where he will m \ke his future home.
