Mr Ambrose, the new town marshal,
seems determined to enforce
the ortlenanoe against stock running
at large, as well as all the other
ordinances of the town. In this
respect he will receive the support
of all law abiding citizens.
Wo want to see those guilty of
"Graft" in connection with the
administration ol the State Dispensary
convicted, but we want to see
them convicted according to law,
and not through the inlluence of
biased newspaper writers.
In a ease coming before him at
Pickens, Judge Aldrieh reversed
himself in reference to the power of
111 n cipadties to try violations of the
dispensary law. He now hold that
t'loy arc clothed with such authority.
It is not known whether he
W?ll allow the Anderson decision to
go lo the Supreme Court or not ( r
will reverse that.

It will be recalled that when
evidence along the line developed
at the recent trial of the alleged
Dispensary grafters was submitted
to the late Leroy F Youmans, one
of the brightest legal lights in the
Slate, while Attorney-General, his
Opinion Was that they could not b<
convicted by such testimony, that
it, would not stand the test of the
rules of evidence.

on Saturday the last day of
the Fair. This will doubtless draw

arrangements will be made than

over one fair with no admittance

that it was not known here until

The State fair is approaching and
preparations are being made for a
bigger fair than ever. The opening
day is November 1st, and the fair
will last, for six days. On November
Gih, President Taft will visit
Columbia and will address those
who are here then. The address
will be one of the features of the fair
and other attractions are: The
Clemson-Carolina foot ball game, a
i number of meetings of importance,
and better entertainments than the I
authorities have been able to secure I
