Z ick Spr-vtt, a public school teuoher was lodged in the county jail hero last Saturday night for safe keeping He had been acting very (jueerlv for several days and was raving when he was taken to the jail. The circumstances surrounding his case arc rather peculiar. The trustees of Home wood school were without a teacher and wrote to the agency for one. Spratt was recommended for the position and came on and began the school. It was only a few days before the patrons of the school became aware that he was not conducting the school properly. Ho gave out no lessons and would of'on rli?m?cc pupils in the middle of the school hours. lie also acted very strangely and he was asked for his resignation. Oq Saturday afternoon iti seems that he became unmanagablo and was brought to Conway and turned over to the sheriff. He is said to have come from Fort Mill, S. ' O., and some of his people were communicated with. Several telegrams were reeeived asking the authorities to take care of him until some one could come after him. He was not put in jail at first, but was taken to the Vcroen Hotel. Later on in the night ho became raving mad and was at large on the streets for a time. Later he was placed in a room at the jail.
