There are lots of old Horryites at
this placo, but it seems as if thoy
don't take any interest in writing
to anybody, notasjnuch as their
county paper.
Health of this place is good at
this writing.
No death or marriages to report.
We have preaching at the Baptist
church twice a month by Rev Cates,
an able worker in the cause of
Christ.
Our fruit growers will soon be
picking and shipping their golden
fruits to market,
Mr John Tyler, of Putnam Hall,
was up this way a few days ago on
legal business,
Mr R L Smith paid Putnam Hall
a business visit on Tuesday of last
week, returning yesterday by way
of the boat. He treated himself to
a pair of fine mules and a young
nag while up there.
I would like to say through the
columns of your paper to a few correspondents
who have been writing
letters of inquiry to me that Florida
is the best poor man's country
in the world. Rut I will not persuade
any ono to come. Let tnem
do as I have done, come and see. I
have been here twelve years and the
longer I stay the better I like it.
We had an unsual phenomenon in
the heavens a few nights ago. The
moon and a star collided but we had
