Editor Herald: As 1 have seen
nothing from this place in a long
time 1 will write a word or two.
Health of our people is generally
good.
Times arc lively hero. Wo have
two large cotton mills running live
days out of the week uud uKo a large
oil mill running on full time.
The new railroad is coming
through this section. It is already
graded to our town and we are exporting
to hear the whistle of the
locomotive soon.
They are building un addition of
27f> feet to llio Maple cotton mil!
which thoy are expecting to lit up
\nitli new machinery. It is expected
to bavo it in operation in the
near future.
Cotton crops arc not as good a*
they were last year. But prices are
very good.

A tent meeting is going on here
conducted by the Revo's Tom M clutoah
and Willie Cox. They are both
eloquent apoakors and seem to be
doing a lot of good, they preach

Thoy dont make it obnoxious as
some do. Mr Mcintosh was a recent
Missionary to China, the story of
his trip around the world is quite

Messrs j F Biidgen and John
Mooney visited friends in Horry
recently.
There are no weddings to report
now, but think there will be several
soon.
We are having some nice pleasant
fall weather, tiope the cquinoxial
storm will be moderate.

Obituary.
Mrs Sarah A. Gore, nee Rock wo1.!,
was born December 11, 188(1 and
died at hor home at Mt. Tabor, N.
C , Juno 10th, 1900.
in 18f>7 at the a?ge of twenty-one
years sho joined the M. E. church
at Whitevillc, N. C., under the ministry
of Rev C VV Goodwin in which
she lived a faithful member foi three
years.
On August Kith, 1858 she was happily
married to Rev I). N. Gore, M.
1),, with whom she lived happily for
nearly fifty years. After her marriage,
in order to better assist her
husband and to enter with more
sympathetic interest into his noble
work, she joined the Baptist church
of which her husband was an honored
member, and placed her membershii)
with the Pleasant Hill Han-1
list church. Sister Gore's life stood
out like a beacon 1 i^ht to all who
knew her, and her Christian character
commanded the greatest love
and respect.
While tho entire town and community
realize their great loss, none
feel it so greatly as the bereaved
husband, for nearly half century
hand in hand they walked l'fo's pathway
sharing each others joys and
sorrows, smiles and tears, triumphs
and hardships, but now he sits quietly
in the glooming of life's eventide

face to face in the glory laud.
God dcos not lend us his jewels
for always, and some day the silver
cord that binds us to this earthly
kingdom must break. We should not
fear tho way our Master trod for he
will not leave us alone.
Sister Gore leaves four daughters,
Mrs F. C. Williamson, of Florida,
Mrs S. P. Hughes, of South Carolina,
Mrs W. J. Hughes and Mrs
W. C, Graham, of this county, several
grand-children and a host of
friends, for to know her was to love
hor.
The burial services were conducted
by Rev G. F. Stanley, pastor of
Mt Tabor Baptist church, assisted
by the paator of- the M. church,
ftev L. F Sawyer, and her remains
were gently laid to rest in the beautiful
Oak Hill cemetery, there to
await the rosumction morn.
May the Holy Spirit comfort and
strengthen the bereaved ones whither
she has gone they know, and th >
way they know.
