Baker departed this life on Sunday,
July 25lb, 1900. and was laid to rest
at Old Antioch cemetery, where his
wife was buried, He had been ill
for sometime with typhoid fever.

A party consisting-of Mr and Mrs
J A Norton, Miss Louise Robertson
and Mr Geo F Nissen and two of his
brothers who are visiting him, left
Conway last Thursday to spend a
week at Myrtle Beach.
Several witnesses in town were
subpoened last week to attend a ease
at Gurley before Magistrate Allen.
The ease was entitled The S.tate
vs P. R. Hardee, and he was charged
in the warrant with false swearing
in a case which had been tried
at Conway some time in the Spring.
J. T. Tompkins, of Howell, was
the prosecutor in the case. Among
those who were subpoened to attend
were J. C. Spivey, Newton
Sweet and 13 T. Hyman,
