through Conway again last Sunday
fetching our girls to the seashore.
The striking liremcu on the (ieor
gia railroad lias won out, and hereafter
no negroes will be employed
as tlremen on that road except at
terminal points.
If we would all heal up the little
petty differences among us. if there
beany, and all pull together in the
interest of the industrial development
of Conway it would not be
long beforo we would have a cotton
seed mill, a guano factory, cotton
factory and other industrial enterprises
in operation here putting
money in circulation and bringing
home-seekers to town and
county.
Salem Happenings,
^ Farmers are busy laying by their
(crops.
Health is generally good with a
few exceptions.
Mrs Rutiila Nixon left last Monday
for Fair Bluff, N C., where she
expects to spend sometime with relatives
and friends.
The Salem base ball boys aro still
expecting a call from the Tilly
Swamp boys but it seems like they
are slow about making it.
The Children's Day at Salem on
Sunday last was a success and was
enjoyed by all present.
The exercises commenced at half
past ten o'clock and lasted until
about 1:30 o'clock. The programme
was as follows:

Dear Mr.Editor: Wo have just
read where the arm of tin law and
the HolyGhosters clashed in New
York and the law won. Such news
is pleasant to Christians and we believe
such false doctrines should be
prohibited as much as possible, yet
we have them here in Horry county
and they are succeeding in winning
some of the children along with a
lot of ignorant adults. Their teachings
are that all must receive the
gift of speaking in an unknown
tongue or else miss heaven. When
one claims to have received the great
spirit the chattering begins and
there is no more edification in it
than there is in the cackling of a
guinea chicken They use the 14th
chapter 1st Corinthians to back up
their teachings, vet thev do not in
terpret what they claim to speak in
an unknown tongue. The Rev Gal
vin Gasque is their pastor, and
claims to not hold with the great
new spirit, yet they seemeth to not
regard the rules of the Missionary
Baptist nor tear God but have set
out to win among the lunatics of the
