on the right kind of security.

The poor house for old Confederate
Veterans in Columbia has been
completed and it now only remains
for the Legislature to withdraw the
State (J appropriotion of $250,000
which helps to support these war
worn heroes at home where their
wants and neeessitios are olTectionately
looked after by those who are
connected with them by ties of love
and kinship, to force them to enter
its prison walls,on the gates of which
this legend should be written, "he
who enters here leaves hope and
liberty behind."
