Sheriff** Office Hard to Fill
Sheriff B. J. Sessions will tind it
hard to fill the office of sheriff for
the pay that thore is in it now since
the act went into effect requiring I
all couuty officers to turn all costs
collected over to the county treasurer.
His salary is only $1,000 per
year, and he says that it will cost
him uearly $500 to handle the tax
executions There are so many tax
executions each yoar that the sneriff
has to employ deputies to collect
thorn.
Maffiatratc'A Court
The case of the State vs. Thorn p
kins was investigated last Friday
before Magistrate Newton Sweet.
The prosecutor in the case was B
M. Mishoe, who alleged that Mr
Thompkins had sold intoxicating
drinks. It seems that the case grew
out some cider which Mr Thompkins
had for sale more than six
months ago. The magistrate did
not think thero was anything in the
charge and so stated, but he had to
bind the case over on technical
grounds.
