Last night word came from Shorill
Litiox and t) >SM3 that after another
day ai d night's seirch to ell'ect
the capture of the pr isoner, he had
been entirely lost s'ght of and tlx1
pursuit was reluctantly abandoned
to the local authorities.
The chase finally na rowed itself
down to a contest of physical en
durance and Walker with his long
experience as a fugitive.and an inti
mate acquaintance with the swamps
travelsed, had the pursuers handicapped.
Since ho skirted th 1 beach
of Lake Waccamaw, passing on
I through the village Priday afternoon,
his whcieabounts have been unknown
and with the use of kerosene
and turpentine on his feet, he
seems to have effectively thrown the

In making his escape from the jail
at South port. Wa k r secured the

filing his shackles from the cot pro

readily, as was afterwards tested,
and from another pie o of the hooo

That he has been resourceful no

that feeling in humankind which

It was understood between the

The Burroughs Society sc-'j

the Toddvillo Society Mr A. M. I)u-enburv.
Mr tjuattlebaum named l
as a third man our Superintendent

Mr Dusenbury then gave the
names of Miss Keller, teacher of
