I.com to Say INo.
Mr. Kditor:? I think if people
would learn to say no under many
'ircuiustanc.es they would avoid
many regrets and expenses. People
arc generally loo easily persuaded
to do wrong things and they regret
it afler it is too late. If the
hook agents cornc around selling
hook -, or scrolls, speculating on religions
literature at cxhorhi tan t prices
and you aro satisfied that the volume
is not worth half the money dont bo
fooled by his soft, mouth and sharp
nose, say no, for when a farmer
earns a few dollars that there is always
some one on the pad fishing
for them, and oh iiow ho does catch
the "suckers." I think a good way
to do these fellows would be to do
them like the old man did the merman
ciders who went to his home
and wanted leave some tracts and
tho old man told him to leave the
tracts with the heel to the door: I
heard a man say who had been fooled
and cheated by one of these fellows
t hat if an agent was to come
iround selling "glory" he would not
imy. I do hope that the people will
stop being fooled by those fellows
tramping over tho county.
^ oung man when you are endued
or persuaded to go into bad
company or take the social drink;
ay no, it w'dl save you trouble.
Young lady when that man who
drinks whiskey and gambles, take
the name of the Lord in vain oilers
you his attention; say no, it will
save you many sorrows. Mr. Merchant
when that fellow come around
and tries to get your goods on a
credit for which ho no /or intended to
pay for; say no, it will save you
roin being cramped or drove to the
wall, when your bills come duo.
Mr. Kditor when that man's sub
scription to the paper Is past duo
for a year or two and still wants it
sent.; say no, for you may know that
lie clout intend to pay it.
