All the merchants are showing a lovely line of spring goods. It was reported that strawberries sold here Saturday at 25 cents a crate. Some fine fish are being taken from Waccainaw river and Kingston lake. Strawberries and cream is a delicacy enjoyed by Conwavites most every day. Politics are growing hot and the candidates arc warm on the trail of the voter. The fai mers are taking advantage of this lino weather and arc pushing farm work rapidly. The children express themselves as delighted with the ttev (1 VI Kdwards as a teacher. It is painful to notice that the "dispensary gratfters" (?) arc not yet "wearing stripes". The lirst excursion of the season to Mvrtlc Reach was suecesfully pulled oil Thursday night. Some of the flower gardens ahoul town are beautiful in their brilliunl , colors of manv hues and shades. The fire fighters were out with the engine Friday night practicing Chief McKeithan is proud of his boys. Mr Tom Wise has resigned from the police force. The retirement ol Mr Wise is a distinct loss to tin town. A communication has been reeeix ed from Mr J B Smith, of Tampa, Fla.. which will appear in these columns shortly. The Presbyterian burying grounds, a spot revered in the momory of nearly all of Conway on account of its hallowed associations, has re cent.ly been nicely cleaned. The health is generally good except old Uncle Wesley Todd and Solomon Chestnut, two old veterans. There was an appointment made to meet at old Uncle Wesley Todd's last Thursday to plant and plough his crops, and there were ton plows running, His crop was planted on that day. 1 car, say there are some good people in this neighborhood. We have a good Sunday school, and some good workers in it. Our new church building is nearly completed. Mr Hodge, the stock buyer, was in our neighborhood recently buying Horry stock and carries them to other counties which have the no fence law. We see a great many coming out for the different offices. That's right, boys, come on. The time is now. We want the best men?men of principle, men that will fill the office with credit to themselves and to their county, men that will not stoop to any and everything to get in office.
