At present fur mors are very busy
preparing for anothor crop.
Rev J. Walter Todd tilled his regular
appointment at this place on the
lirst Sunday and tho day before. He
seemed to bo endowed with tho old
time power and preached an interesting
sermon ou both days. Tho
church and Sunday school is progressing
nicely
The Hickory Hill school is in progress
under the care of Miss Xyepha
Stroud.
There was a very pretty wedding
at M. C. Causey's on Christmas ovcnlng,
when a few of the relatives and
friends* assembled to witness the
marriagoof Miss Catherine Jolly to
Mr J . H. Causie. Mr Causic is one
of oiir much esteemed young men.
Miss Catherine is the charming
daughter of Mr Lewis Jolly of Grcon
Sea. The ceremony was performed
by Rev II G. Fowler, who in a very
solemn manner made them man and
wife. May their pathway bestrewed
with llowers.
S. A. Cottinglmm of this place
has moved to Loris.
Mr Jackson and Mr Cottingham,
of Marion, have moved to this neighborhood.

Mr W. J. Hendricks was in Conway
a fow days ago, haying just re
turned from a trip to Marion county
in the interest of the new bridge
across the Pee Dee connecting Marion
and Horry. He says that the
gentlemen on the other side of the
river, who arc interested in the
bridge, assured him that they had
seen their county supervisor, and
that he was ready to* meet the supervisor
of Iiorry ooifnty at any time
to decide the details, and would
moot Horry half way in the matter
of the expense and would also construct
a road leading out from the
bridge to high land on the other
side. This is very encouraging

The wife of Augustus Woodbury,
a colored man, recently went era/ It
seems that her laud went in the
name of Augustus and he mortgaged
it This seemed to prey on her
mind and stye got Mr J. C. Spivey to
take up the debt. Last Wednesday
uighl at about midnight, she set
lire to the house, having first sent
awav a girl who was living with
her. She made no efTort to put out
the flames and when some one who
came up told her that her house was
burning up, she replied that it was
not her houso, but was "do buckra
house."
Darlington Man Solicitor.
J. Monroe Speers, of Darlington,
S. G., has been appointed by the
Governor as the successor to the
late J. Monroe Johnson as Solicitor
of tho 4th circuit. Mr. Speers is a
young attorney of known ability,
and a self made man. fie was admitted
to the bar in 1898 and has
practiced his profession at Darlington
since that time. He was in the
legislature from his county in 1900.

of Miss Fannie Duscnbury to
Mr. W. W. Jones at Willow Spring

Miss Fannie is the charming
