The burden of the editorials in )
the Columbia State is ''Tillman."
By lijjhtino him that paper no doubt
hopes to help defeat tlie State dispensary.
The Pee IVe Advocate is also^en- '
erally very full of "Tillman" and
anti dispensary paragraphs Ah!
well, it generally tries to sav about
what the State newspaper does. :
The water runs down the drains
along Main street in torrents at
each heavy rain, carrying oil the
earth that had been hauled in to till
up the low ]daces. It would cost a
sum of money to prevent this but it
would pay in the long run to spend ,
it at once. 1
This paper is glad to see the increased
interest taken in the llorry
County Farmers' Union and the organization
may depend upon us to
help them along in every way we
possibly can . 1 he farmers are truly
the "back bone" of the country.

rushed matters this time. Proposed
candidates did not have long in
which to decide, and after the hotcaropaign
there is hardly time to catch
breath before the primary election.
They have kept step with the times
and rushed things.
Hriiisoii'.s Position,
To tho Voters of Simpson Creek
Township;
This is the first time that I have
fully consented to stand for election
to the office of Magistrate, and to
those in the township with whom 1
am not personally acquainted, I will
say to them that I was raised on a
farm. My father died when I was
quite small, leaving no other son. 1
had to take charge of the farm at
12 years of age. 1 have made our
sup])ort and some produce to sell besides.
I am still living at the place
where I was born and raised. 1
chose my bride from among home
people. I have 110 high education
because 1 lmven't had the chance.
What I know I learned at home
around the fireside and not in the
school room, but I do claim to have
wit and wisdom enough to take care
of this office and 1 claim to be
more than my outside appearance
shows. Try me and see. I have
written 110advertisements, nor spent
a penny nor day nor hour soliciting
voters, for I think every voter should
read his county paper and those that
do can tell what I am for. I am no
spokesman nor am I even a sweetened
man?one who is all sweet to
your face and all bitter behind your
back. 1 am trying to be a plain, honest
and straightforward man. 1 feel
like God has called me to make a
public record in this life and now
with his hclp,?and the support of the
people, I will begin it and if elected
I shall labor to keep the olliee not
to the satisfaction of the people but
according to law and order. My
office will be at Daisy, when elected,
as 1 will be in close phone connection
and, besides, I think Daisy is in the
centre of this township. Now I
think f am entitled to the support
of the temperance people of this
township. All T want of tho people
is a clear, clean white vote at the
primary. Respectfully,
John If. Brinson.
