THE HORRY HERALD.
Thursday July 19 190G.
In l.ovinjr Memory.
On Sunday January the 27th, 1!)()(>
the death angel visited the home of
Mr. S. S. Stevens of Sanford and
carried away his dear wife Cora.
She was born October the drd.
1883.
Her remains were laid to rest at
Poplar church the 29th of January,
ltKHUby loving hands and willing
hearts.
She was the eldest daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Sessions of
Adrian. SC. She was married in
11*01 to Mr. S. S. Stevens who survives
her. Cora was a loving and
obedient enild. a good wife and a
loving mother. She was loved by
all with whom she came in contact,
being possessed o' a sweet and loving
disposition.
She leaves a father, mother, two
sisters, a husbsud and one child.
Uubie May. and a large number of
relatives and friends to mourn their
loss. Hut while we mourn we hope
it is her eternal gain. Cora is gone;
it was hard to give her up. but we
would not bring her back, but. hope
some day to meet, her in a better
world. Oh! how heart rendering it
is to stand by the bed side of those
whom we love, so well ami see the
loving ties of nat ure severed by the
iev hands of death. Hut the Lord
knew best, and has called her away.
All that good physicians and loving
hands could, could not stay the hand
of death. Cora your place here cannot
be filled, your bright face and
precious smiles are gone, and you
arc waiting for us to come, and
we intend by the grace of God to
join your happy band. We will
miss her. but we trust she is gone
where she can join in singing
and praising God with the angels
in the beautiful mansions prepared
for al. those who are redeemed by
the precious blood of Christ.
We extend our sympathy to the
bereaved husband and dear little
Kubie, and the entire family connection
and may God's grace be sufficient
for them in this their hour of
bereavement. May Thy will be
done.
Ye fathers and mothers of mortal
years, the husband and sisters too;
ye are waiting still in the valley of
tears; but she waits to welcome you.
Wait, oli! my soul thy Maker's will.
It seems that once our happy
home is now the saddest place on
earth without those precious smiles
of yours, but soon we will go and
meet you where parting will be no
more. Truly we can say "A loving
one from earth is gone, a voice we
loved is stilled, a place made vacant
in our home, which never can be
filled."
May we all find a resting place
?\vhen our earthly task is doner
Her loving cousin.

Pec l?cc Itaptist Union
Perhaps some of the ministers
and churches belonging to the Pee
Dee Union would like to know where
the next session of the Union is to
convene. The next session meets
with the Pleasant Union church.
July 27 2ft, 1H00, at which time and
place we hope to meet delegates from
each church bclonging'to the? Union
and all the ministers belonging to
the same i; possible. Those who
iuiiod to attend the last session at
Pleasant Meadow missed something
grand as it was conceived to be the
best meeting of the Union in quite
a length of time. While there were
only a very few ministers present
but they were prepared to handle
the subjects on the program in such
a manner as to benefit the htarers
and make lasting inipiessions as
well.
We were much pleased to have
with us Brother Samuel I). Todd,
from the Buck Creek Union, who
did good work and made fair im
pressions us to his Christian progress
here. Come to see us again,
Bro. Todd. Also Brethren J. Rd.
Harrelson, Isaac Blanton and D. T).
ilarrelson, from the Buck Creek
Union, were welcomed. Kev: 11, B.
Roberts is the appointee to preach
the introductory sermon at Pleasant
Union,
Wc would request every church
belonging to the Union to send delegates
and especially try to get your
letter in, giving a full statistical report.
Also talk to your ministers
and urge them to attend as it is very
important that they should give
their attendance. 6 B. Todd.

child of Mr. and Mrs. I). W Tompkins.
and they, one brother and two
sisters mourn their loss. He always
socmen ciiccnui and lively, and all
who knew him loved him. Oh how
sad it is that Jehu was taken from
ns so suddenly. He left homo that
morning to go to work all right, and
it was only a few hours before the
sad message came, stating1 that his
head had been crushed by the log
engine in the woods, lie lived a
few hours but was unconscious and
never spoke. His remains were interred
at Poplar church on Tuesday
in the presence of a large crowd of
friends and relatives.
Oh it was so hard to give him up,
but God, who never makes a mistake,
knew best and hath taken him
from us, but soon we w ill go where
parting will be no more.
A loved one from earth is gone,

made vacant in our home, which
