THE HORRY HERALD.
Thursday May 10 1906.
? *From
the Day. M
Health continues good and wcath-;
er continues dry. We had a show-1
or last week which caused many of
our farmers to get bnsv setting tobacco
.
On Thursday of last week there
passed probably the nearest an up
country tornado through this section
that our people over witnessed. Many
old heads say they have been here a
long time and have never seen it
beat. A great deal of damage was
done especially in nearby sections,
many houses being blown dowi ,
both churches and dwellings as well
is barns and smokehouses. 1 heard
of one farmer whose smokehouse
was torn ur an 1 his meat in large
quantities was scattered almost over
the field. Now this is one thing
thai seldom occurs in this section,
and havn't we a riirht to he vorv
thankful that our county is as free
from from tornadoes as it is?
Ed Harrelson of the Pleasant
View section was among those in
this section last. Sunday.
Well, you know I stated in the
last issue to listen for the bells in
the near future but didn't know I
was so near right. On Wednesday
evening of last week at 8 o'clock
a large crowd of relatives and friends
gathered at the home of Mr. and
Mis. 11. F. Ilamlson to witness
the marriage of their daughter, Miss
Cora to Mr. .1. T. Floyd. The parlor
was nicely decorated with bainboo
and the large crowd was conveniently
seated by the ushers, who
were untiring to make a pic*
tureijuo scene. At 'he appointed
hour there appeared two little flower
girls followed by six bridesmaids
and the bride and groom. The
couple were j ined .together by the
Rev. Dr. Walters. Many cheerful
congratulat ions followed, after which
the crowd was invited to the dining
room where they found the table
laden with dainties of many kinds
to satisfy the inner man. After
supper the crowd enjoyed some fine
music both organ and guitar. On
the following day the bride and
groom were accompanied by many
of their relatives to their new home
in (lalivants Ferry section. The
bride is a charming young lady for
whom all who know her has boundless
esteem. She will he greatly
missed by many in this section
Mr. Floyd is a hustling farmer. We
tender all good wishes and hopes
for a sunny life to the couple who
have chosen to walk together
throughout, the ups and downs of
life. Dew Drop.

Mr. T. C. Barnhill, of Gallvants
