Mr.Charley Shelly happened to a
bad accident last Friday afternoon
by tiro which got out from the wash 1
pot or. the wood pile, unci burned a
lino lot of wood and also a lot of ,
fencing. His dwelling just did es- (
cape the lljmcs. The alatin was i
given and the neighbors responded I
and soon extinguished the llames. 1
...Mr. W. F.Floyd, who was work- '
ing in Luke swamp had his little five '
or six year old son minding t he fence J
and told him when he put up the .
gap he could come to him. The
child started to his father hut took ?
the wrong path and got lost and 1
strayed all the evening in theswamp. 1
The alarm was made and neighbors 1
went in search of the list child and '
found it about sunset standing by a '
tree which was surrounded oy water. ,

There are several eases of measles
... Mr G. W. King is very sick at
this writiug. . .The farmers are very
much behind with their work owing
to the cold wet weather, but they
are all hustling now to got their
crops in the ground*. They are looking
for a pretty fair cotton crop and
good prices again next fall. There
has been some corn planted around
here... Mr. M. V. Stanley, the boss
man at Hurcol for IJurroughs A Col
litis Co., is doing and having lots |
of work done on and around Cine
Island farm. lie has about completed
a large stock shed which is a
groat improvement to the place. We
think him to be an all right man and
every one likes him very much and
all wish him much success and a tong
stay.. .. Mr. Percy I lard v. iek of Conway,
was in Hurcol Saturday visiting'
friends. They were all glad to
see him. lie looked well Mr.
Charlie Livingston and wife of this
place, with two sisters. Misses
Tompy and Flora Causey, left here
Friday for Dogwood Neck to visit
fri iids and relativss. We wish
them a happy journey .... We are
i 11 hopes of fine weather for planting
from now on, so I will close for this

New Schedule.
The schedule ot the trains on the At- V
lantic Coast Line has been changed, and f
the trains now arrive and leave Conway j
as follows: The freight trnin leaves Con- f
way fot Chadhourn at half past seven J
o'clock <i. in., returning here at IV:5 f
o'clock p. n.. The passenger train arrives
here from Chadhourn at 1:50 p.m.,
and returns at 3:4f>. This is a very convenient
schedule and the people seem to
be pleased with it
