Fall River Steamer Plymouth.
The open door of a state room which
had been occupied by a woman and
three young children on a trip of the
Fall River Line steamer Plymouth,
from New York to Fall R<ver, Mass.,
early Tuesday morning led to tin discovery
that Mrs. John Walters of
Brooklyn, N. Y., had taken idie lives
of her three little ones and then her
own. Mrs. Walters apparently had
thrown overboard her two daughters
and Infant son and then jumped after
them.
Investigation by the attaches of the
steamer Indicated that the tragedy recurred
between midnight and 3.30 a.
m., the fact of the state rof m being
unoccupied having beeu discovered
j ist before the Plymouth made the
Newport landing. The woman left two
notes addressed to her husband. In
one penciled on the back of an enve ope
she begged forgiveness; in the
other, written on wrapping pap.r. she!
