Editor Herald: Please allow u e space in your paper for a few words. 1 do think it a disgrace to the good peop'.c of our county that so little attention is paid to the perpetration of crime, and that some men for the sake of a few dollars will work so hard to free the guilty ones. It has got to that place that a man is in danger of losing his life if he insults another. If a man is insulted about the first tiling he does is to count his dollars. If he thinks he has enough to pay out he don't mind cutting or hooting his fellow man knowing that for a few dollars he can defy the law and yet clear. I learn today that steps are being taken through some wrong statements or accusations against John Harris to bring him into court as the one guilty of the assassination of Rev. H. D. Grainger. Now, Mr. Editor, 1 just say what 1 am going to say now to save Harris a deal of t rouble?to save the county the expense of trying an innocent man-? just for the purpose of making some one a few dollars. I don't think it uiiflvt fA < n il./\ 4 - ii^uu KiA niu uuuuiy to support men in any such vocation. To find out where John Harris was 011 the day when the liev. Grainier was killed see C. W. Jinx, A. I hope to live to see the day when justice will bo the thing sought instead of dollars in all such cases. Kev. W. S. McCaskoll failed to fill his appointment at Good Hope church on Saturday and Sunday. Joe Graham and faimly are still having trouble with typhoid fever Hob Anderson being very low at this writing. With best wishes for the welfare of our country and the Horry Herald. H. B. Holmes Good looks bring huppiness. Prince was here recently from Chadbourn, N. C, and while chasing a cow which he bought from his brother A. K. Prince, he lost his purse containing $00.00 cash, life insurance policy from the W. O. Stephen 1 Tucks who has done some good work in the Princeville school will soon leave us to take np his abode elsewhere. He made many friends while with us. Ouklon !Ncw?. There is no complaint of lack of moisture in this section at present. On the contrary, almost everybody is eager to see a change, as un er existing conditions it is impossible to make any headway with outside work. The roads are in horrible condition owing to the long continued wet weather, hi d the usual talk relative to road building is heard in the land. It is not likely that there will be any practical result, because of the fact that the situation of the people is very similar to that of tho Ark insas Traveller relative to repairing the roof of his house, in that while it is raining they cannot repair the roads and when it is dry thoy do not need repairing. It is rumored that several business changes arc to take pi ace at Oaktun very soon Mr. Hughes of Jordanvillc was in this community a few days ago on business. Kev. J. L).
