PLANT BURNED.

GRF.AT MISPORTUiNC HAPPENS
TO ONE OH THE LARGEST
PLAINT^ IN COUNTY.
Tlic Shiiigrlc Plant of Richardson
Cypress I.umber and Shiiiffle
Co.. at Hucksporl Destroyed
By Hire East Thursday.
Conwav vras sorry to hear last
'riiiiisrliiv cvonintr of th? hnrnimr nf
tin* shingle plant of tlie Richardson
Cypress Lumber and Shingle Co.,
al Rucksport The entire shingle
plant was destroyed and there was
no telling the cause of the disaster.
The loss is figured at between
twelve and fourteen thousand d >1lars,
only a small portion of this is
covered by insurance.
Last Thursday was a day of bad
wt athcr and the hands at the plant
were released from work at an ear
lb r hour than usual. They had all
left and most of them had leathered
in the store from the cold, boon
afterwards some boys disooverei
the fire and it had already gathered
such head-way that nothing could
be done to stay the flames It was
raining and near by buildings were
all saved as also the timber and
lumber on the yards.
Mo one knows the cause. Some
b ibet't had been used about some of
the machinery just before the mill
was closed down for the day, and
this may have been carelessly left
so ihat it started the blaze.
L'his com pa u v is one of the largest,
of its kiiVd in th* ennntv iind
has been doin# a profitable busine-is.
The lire l.isi Thursday was a
severe ruisfort ue, but it is said the
plant will be re-buih as quickly as
possible.
