the town that it has so long needed. |
We live in hope though we die in de
spair.
It is apparent that the Legislaturo
should have provided longer
and more frequent terms of the v
court of Common Pleas for Horry ,
county, when the general act was <
passed last January. The present *
act provides for a week's term of
this court in October of each year
and this is a much longer time than
was provided by the old arrange- ?
ment, but still not long enough
promptly to dispose of the jury case.arising
in the county at. this stage
in her history. At the October term
of the court of Common Pleas last
year, only one ease, that of Lewis
and sin ill vs. Hinsonet. al . was disposed
of. The term held here last
woet made no better progress as the
Durunt case was the only jury ease
thul was tried. All the other eases. 8
and there is no small number of
tl em were continued on the docket,
notwithstanding the rights of parties
may ?utTer by long delay.
I'm less a permanent change i> made
jti the law at the approaching session
ol the Legislature so that the county
may have a summer term, or longer
terms provided, the number of
cases on the civil dockets will increase
in number. The great progress
the county is making in material
development requires some change
and it is up to our Legislators to
give us the needed change. '

our section at present, but no serious
eases.
Jack frost has made things look
black through this section of country.
We are glad to see it turn a
little cool.
Sunday was a tine day and everybody
in this section seemed to enjoy '
the day. 1 saw some upon the house \
top. Guess they were trying to get

little more forcibly and others were
riding about. They looked liko <
sporting folks and 1 guess they
wore.
Miss Fannie Pitman, who is teach- i
ing t he Maple school, passed through f
this section last Sunday on her way
home to see her friends and loved i
ones. ,
Pro. J. S. Abrcrombio began a
protracted meeting at Sandy Plain (,
on last Sunday. Wo trust that much f
and lasting good wil be accomplished
I would be glad if some of our reviving
ofYleers would pass through this ^
section, as some of our young men t
will not behave themselves.
