This fall has been a good season
for businees or far as it is declared
by business and the ban Us that the
country is in Pino financial condition.
The only thiog that is feared now is
a sudden plump in the prices of cottoil,
but according to the views of
some this is not likely to happen
for the reason that the crop is short
and cut off from various causes.
With cooler weather the authorities
may expect another out-break
of small pox. The time to stamp it
out was during the summer months,
but the matter was entirely neglected.
During the summer there has
been an occasional case of it more or
less severe?just enough of course
to keep it alive until the approach of
winter weather again. It is as well
to begin in time and be ready to
handle it when it comes along.
Traveling solictors very often
come to Conway soliciting our citizens
to invest their money in enterprises
far away from home, and
they doubtless lead many to take
stock in these concerns that will go
to build up some other town. All

should be put into enterprises
at homo thus building our
home town. It is a mistake t

county has as good a record for soberness
of her people as any county 1
X in the State. It was a matter of
\ remark at the last term of the court
) of general sessions, that not one of
the Defendants tried was charged
in open court'by any states witness ,
with having been under the influence
of intoxicating liquor, at the
time the crime was committed, and
although the town was crowded with
court week visitors, nearly the on
tire week, not onoof the large crowds,
so far as we have been informed, was
guilty of drunkenness or disorderly
conduct or. account of strong drink.

were running in full blast in the
county,
