Kditor Herald ? Will you please
allow me spaco in your paper for
this letter. I and family lived at
Sa^ano HI a , j/oine- there in January
last, and wasemployd by J.S. Weeks
& Son. 1 went buck to South Carolina
in the interest of Mr. Weeks
and on my return to Florida 1 found
that I had made a mistake. I had
oone back to my home county and
had represented a man that would
not do to depend on. and lie tried to
<jet me back to my home in his inter
est ai?ain and 1 would not ^o. He
?^ot Mr. Sam Johnson of Ilox S. C.
to <^o back for the purpose he wanted
m<5 to j^o for and on Mr. Johnson's
return he found that he had made
the same mistake that 1 had made.
Mr. Sam M. Cook, out of the Fee
Dee section, came to Sa^ano to join
the crowd of 1 lorry boys already
there. 1 left Sa^ano on the 18th of
July, and since then four or five
others have also left. 1 live on the
A. C. li. at Rochelle, I have seen
two of the Horry boys pass here
from Sa^ano. Since then I have
received two letters from two of
the Horry boys stating that they
were Koino to leave Sa^ano.

Col. Quattlcbaum in Cicorjeeto wii.
Col C. P. Quattlcbaum of the
Conway bar, was in Georgetown
yesterday and Monday and he gave
The Carolina Field an interesting
talk about conditions in Horry county.
According to Col. Quattlebauin
the tobacco crop is short, but quality
of offerings and prices are good,
the growers expressing great satisfaction
with results so far The
cotton crop will be short; there is a
decrease in acreage and then the
yield is affected by one cause and
another.
Building is very active still and
Conway is looking up with no sign
of abatement.
Col. Quattlcbaum came to the city
on legal business and had very little
to say of the political outlook, beyond
stating that the committee in charge
of securing names for'the request
for an election on the purpose of
voting on the dispensary question
claims to have secured more than
sufficient names to order an election.

bM i tor Herald:? 1 see several
writers on the dispensary question.
Some think the Hlind tigers will h" 1
worse than the dispensary, and that
they could not get rid of them. If
your Sherifl will arrest them and
put them in jail till court, then the '
court semi them to the chain gang
three or four years they will soon
stop, and you will not have them.
\v fiisKcv is the greatest curse on
earth. It ruins men and hoys, here |
on earth and helps to send them to
hell, for no drunkard can enter J
Heaven, and 1 had as soon vote for
a man to kill folks with any other 1
weapon as whiskey, for lie might be
saved if he were shot and killed,
but if he was killed with whiskey he
would be lost. 1 had rather rob the
bank of money to educate children
than to sell whiskey for it, For
when 1 robbed the bank 1 would
rob folks that had a living outside
of the bank, and when I am selling
whiskey I am robbing poor women
and children out of all thev have, for
it is a fact that whiskey drinkers
have sold the last chicken oil of the
yard and bought whiskey with it.
So you see it will be best to vote the
dispensary out of dear old Horry
county and put all the blind tiger
men in the chain jjanj; and be free,
from the stuff. C. Mo. Todd.
Janet, Miss.
