Virro.
Perhaps one of the most progressive
communities iv Horry is around i
Virgo.
Just a few years ago we had to go i
several miles to reach a grist mill, <
post cilice or even a school house.
The ox curt was the chief vehicle for
transportation going to meeting and
the like, but now! llow things have
changed
A good well lixed and furnished
school house has, at a recent meeting
of the counSv Hoard of Kduca
tion been laid oil into a district
to itself with a set of men as trustees
who are actively interested in
educational allairs and will very i
likely do much toward the advancement
of education in their eotnmun- :
ity.
At a recent meeting of the Trustees
and patrons at the Virgo school
house, S. (i. Alford was appointed
clerk of tne board. The other Trustees
are 0. A . Causey and S. C. Hcv- <
erly. They also decided to start the

We also have a pood prist mill i

man in the person of W. It. Shelly, i
We expect our postoflice to be in I

Kat horses and mules, now hup- I
pies and wupons, ''shiny" harnesses
are pood sipns also of prepress and
we have them.
Other pood proofs of the thriftiness ,
of this section is new land bcinp fenced
and cleared, new dwellinps beinp ^
erected, some marriapes takinp place
and some more expected. .

With slight exceptions the health 1
of the community is good.
Farmers in this section are nearly
done ploughing and they are rejoicing
over their crops which are a '
great deal better than were expected.
There is a vast difference in the '
corn crop now and six weeks ago.
Hog cholera is taking its course ;
in this section and,the report says it .
is raying nearly all over the county. 1
We hope that it will not kill out all ,
the hogs.

Fishermen have been doing a
rushing business with the scaley
tribe for the last two months, but it
is very likely that they will be
