There have been heavy rains here
all the spring, and crops are small
and grassy.
Mrs. Margaret (lore fell down in
her house some time ago and injured
herself, becoming helpless. She
is about ninety years old.
Mr. R. C. Gore had the timber cut
on sixty-five acres of land in the
Gore Hay last winter and it has been
so wet that he cannot burn it out to
plant it.
There are always new and strange
things in this world. The latest
with us of note is that of Mr. W. B.
Hcwette's baby. It has no tongue
in its mouth. The child is living
and is about one month old now. It
cannot nurse, but is fed by jiouring
milk down its throat, and it is not
expected to live in this condition.
Dr. Goley says that he can fix the

and alright. This seems to sound I
like fable, but he is smart and is
praised by many people for his success
in his profession.
Mr. Berry Lawrimore of Pireway,
his wife and this writer, went to
Shallotte last week.
Why don't some of the Don go! a

to make money and a lazv man will
have money here.
The people of this country are good
people generally and have good
schools. Free schools run from live
to eight months in the year. Other
higher schools in all the little towns
run fiom nine to eleven months in
the year. Good churches of every
denomination.
We read in the Herald about a
new Court House and Jail in Conway.
I would suppose you all need
them by now as the county has come
out so in population and industries,
and 1 am glad to know that dear
old Horry has got on a building
boom.
1 wish the people of Horry much

some one to write on that subject
from every place or community in
Horry, for I am more concerned
about the soul than the body. Cod
help us all to live right.
Wo have very good crops out here

and rain nearly all the time until a
few days ago.
Mr. S. II. James, better known as
*'Bud" went to the Sand Hill Ma

third degree.

Crude turpentine is a fine price
now. It is worth $4.50 for old, $.">.50
for now, of two hundred and eighty
pounds-. It is good for the boys
that worked it. I saw four barrels
sold on last Saturday for $25.95 cash.
1 heard of somo that dono even better
than that If some of the old
turpentine men of I lorry was here,
t hey would get rich.
There are four protracted meeting
on hand from now until October.
Kach will last ten days, and all of
God's people pray for their success.
