?Governor Hey ward has signed
the commission of B. G. Causey as
sheriff of Berkeley county to succeed
J. B. Morrison resigned. The
transfer of ollice will take place on
the 1st of June. Mr. Causey is a
brother of S. A. and Jehu Causey of
Bear Swamp.
?Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Tuton returned
the first of this week from
Atlanta, Ga , where they have been
spending some time. During the
absence of Mr. Tuton the business
has been conducted by Mr. W. P.
Gore, the junior member of the firm
of B. F. Tuton it Co.
?The little son of Mr. and Mrs.
Emory Johnson, formerly of this
city, who was so seriously scaldod
about two weeks ago, died at Conway
last week The grief stricken
parents have the sympathy of their
numerous friends in this county in

some time will return with Mr.

at Conway Bargain House
where he will be glad to wait on his

Trinity church on Telfair Square
was the scene last evening of the
marriage of Miss llallie Candaee
White and Mr. James Praneis Duslonbury,
an event that the beautiful
decorations, and the lovely gowns
of the wedding party and the guests
united to make attractive. The gal - i
lory of the church was covered with
a network of bamboo vines, and
handsome palms were placed around
tho altar, upon which white roses
were prettily arranged. The ceremony
took place at eight o'clock, the
church being tilled with guests.
Those who acted as ushers were

Cltupeau, Mr Prank Sloat and

The bride was attended by a matron
of honor, Mrs. Frank Sloat,

The marriage service was performed
by the pastor, the Uev. Cluyton
Fisher. During the ceremony
"Hearts and Flowers" was softly
played by the organist. The bride,

Car l.oad Tiling Arrived
A car load of the tiling that is to
be used in draining Conway arrived
over the Atlantic Coast Lino last
Thursday. The commissioners of
internal improvements composed of
Co?. 0, I'. Quattlebaum, Mr. 1". A.
Burroughs and lion. Kobt. 11. Searborough
have recently had a map
made of the town with a view adopting
the best plans for the drainage
of the town, and they have been in
correspondence with engineers concerning
this important matter for
some time. It was decided that the
first section of the town to receive
attention should be that portion lying
near the livery stables and other
buildings on Brd avenue and adjacent
streets, as this appears to be
the lowest portion of the town that
is needing attention. The car load
of tiles that arrived last week will
bo used here, and the work of putting
them in, we are assured by the
commissioners, will begin in the
near future.

have been running a livery business
at the Todd stables here for the past
several months, have recently opened
a branch of their business at Myrtle
beach for the benefit of ?peoplo
who may wish to visit this popular
resort during the summer. Mr. A.
J. Richardson is in charge of the
branch at Myrtle Beach while the
business here is being conducted by
Mr. J. M. Richardson. They arc
prepared to furnish good teams at
each place to any point in the county.
Drummers who may want to
visit Myrtle Reach will be supplied
with teams to take them to Stalvey,
Singleton, Socastee and other points
on vVaccamaw Neck. The branch
of the business at Myrtle Beach will
be discontinued at the close of the
summer season.
