Mr. \j. F. Sarvis for sending it a
copy of "The Telephone," one of
the "ancestors of the Hobby IIkrALD,

A l)ay for Mass Meeting-.
Kditor IIkhald:?1 see by reading
the Horuv Herald several articles
written on the subject of
building a new eourt house and jail.
1 further note that you ask some
one to suggest a time for a mass
meeting for the purpose of discussing
the subject, so that we might ascertain
the sentiment of the people
from the different sections of the
county. 1 consider this a very appropriate
step to be taken, as tin
money would come directly through
the tax payers. I think they should
have a voice in the matter.
There have been several architects
down trying to get inc to agree to
let the contract, and, as 1 cannot do
that as the matter stands, I would
be pleased to see the matter put before
the people again and let them
vote according to the dictates of
their own conscience,
I would suggest that Salosday in
July at 12 o'clock m. be set apart
for the mass meeting, that the
meeting be called to order and the
subject of*the meeting stated by the
Hon. R. H. Scarborough.
Respectfully,
Conway, S. C. J L. Royd.

S. T. Sessions and H. H. Woodward,
let the contract last Monday
for the eruption of two buildings on
Main Street, a partition wall to divide
the two buildings of the owners.
The entire building will be 71
x HO feet and occupy the space lying
between the Kingston Hotel and
the Norton Drug Co. It will be
two stories high and have a front of
white pressed brick worked into a
design furnished by the architect,
with rough stone finish portland
cement blocks.
The building of S. T. Sessions will
be a store building twenty-eight
feet wide, with offices up-stairs, and
pla'e glass front. The rest of the
building will be occupied by a store
house with plate glass front, lawoflice
down stairs, with entrance on
the streetf private office and a printing
offlco, which is designed as a
new home of the Horry FIrralp, besides
offices up-stairs.
The IIkrald, ever since its establishment
just after the war, hasbeen
moving from place to place in
the town, and so far as we arc informed
has never had a place it
could call its own . The paper will
have a homo of its own in the new
building and be the best quarters it
has cyer occupied in its history.
