At tho appointed hour it was seen that tho house, though largo was not suflieenfc to accomodate the people who had come from every direction, even the passages leading from the front doors to the rostrum were crowded with those who was eager to see and to hear. The farmers of this section are j busy at present planting tneir crops. Some have planted corn and others are getting ready to plant. j Mr. Phipp's family has been quite sick with the small pox, but they are improving at this writing. Henry Grainger of the Harold section was a pleasant visitor here last Sunday afternoon. Johnie Edwards left here last Saturday to attend the anniversary at Mt. Tabor, N. C. J. Thomas and Mrs. A. L. Todd visited in the Eldorado section last Saturday and Sunday, Mr. G. Walter Harris of Homewood, while employed at the Si/.er Lumber Co's saw mill last Saturday morning, got his right arm badly cut, and the last, hearing the writer had was that they did'nt know < if 'lit >v ucuier ms arm wouiu nave to be amputated or not. lie was oiling ! some part of the machinery at the < time. We learned after reaching Myrtle Reach that Miss Rhoda McConnoll was teaching at Mrs. Averill's, so ' she was invited to take an afternoon stroll with us, thus making the even number of eight young ladies. It will be useless to say ( that we highly enjoyed the after- i noon. At 1:110 o'clock the call of "all j aboard for Conway" was heard, , hasty good-bye's wore said, and | while the sad thought that perhaps we would never all be together j again at Myrtle I leach, unbidden j tears would start, but we would brush them away and enjoy today; and all with one accord vote it one of the most pleasant days we had ever spent. The Misses Rabon left us at IMne Island. We were soon at Con way again, tired, but ' with no regret. We spent the ^ night again at Mr. Collins'. The next day at the depot we parted 1 with our dear little friend, Miss Maude, perhaps never to meet again 4 in life, but ever with pleasant mem- j ories of her and the day we all spent . at Myrtle Reach. To them were born nine hildren, seven of them still living. She joined the Missionary Baptist hurch at Gapway, Marion county vhile quite young and was baptized >y the Rev. vVilliam Ayers. She hen transferred her membership to dt. Pisgah church, Horry county vhere she remained a faithful mem Hjr until death. Lhe hated sin, but oved virtue. Her home was a mod 1 home, her life was Christ like, her leath was peace. Being old and full of years Lairlppe and Pneumonia fastened itelf on her body and in spite of all hat her children, loving friends and )r. Allcrd Lewis could do, she died n April 8rd., 11?05.
