Rpivey has been assigned to three very important committees of the House of Representatives. viz., Ways and Means, Hank ing and Insurance, and the Military Committee. ?Tho Atlantic Broom Works has ordered a complete outfit of new machinery and materials and are ready to begin work in the building occupied by Conway Iron Works near the lake. ? The old post oflieu on lower Main street near the depot was i torn down last week. It was of no use and it had caught on lire several times from sparks from passing locomotives. ?Madam May Ona, Palmist and ( Phrenologist, graduate of Fowler it Well's school. N. The small pox was very uear to Conway all of last year and soveral times the town was about to get up a #euuioe scare about it. Now tho disease has broken out at sevoral places in the county, some of them very near the town, and tho town authorities have passed an ordinance declaring compulsory vaccination. , Tho following resolution was passed by the board of trustees of Burroughs #radcd school: "Resolved, by the Hoard of Trustees of BurJou#hs School District, \'o. 19, that the Supt. of Burrou#h> School and the Supt. of Whittanmre School bo instructed to announce to the pupils of their respective schools, that on l ionday next, the 23rd inst., ach pupil will be required to brim/ him a certificate of a Doctor show in# that such pupil has been recently vaccinated or has been successful ly vaccinated within one year last past; and that pupils not so vaccinated be excluded from the School titer said date until so vaccinated and producing suid certificate " Magistrate'* Court. Jack Williams, a colored man liv in# near Conway, had several othoi lurkies presented in the m t#i-t rates ourt here the first of the week, char#in# them with malicious trespass on his lands. The defendants *ero trustees or committee oi \ colored church that has a burying ground adjoining land of the prose utor. There seems to have been a dispute about the dividing line of the owners and the defendants buried a dead body on Jack Williams' land. The magistrate dismissed 'lie ease on some technical ground, but the prosecutor has employed council and will raise the question again. Approaching Marriage. Friends in Conway of Mr L. (1. McNabb have received invitatiors to his wedding which will beat Nashville, Tenn.. at the Russell Street. Cumberland Presbyterian church, at eight o'clock on Wednesday, Janu- 1 ary 25th. The bride elect is Miss iCllen H. Hogan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Hogan of Nashville. Mr. MoNabb is it former Horry boy, who has, by application and perseverance, made his way in anoth- i er State.
