II. A brams was shot and seriously wounded by Lanncau Stackhouse on Main street near the beef market last Tuesday evening about dusk. Conflicting accounts arc given but from what we can gather, it appears that the parties hud some dispute with angry words. They finally clinched, Staekhouse drew his pistol and fired, and the two scuttled toward the middle of the street, Staekhouse discharging his pistol rapidly at close range until every chamber was empty, live in all. Abrams did not fall but turned away and was assisted to the ofiice of Dr. Dusenbury where he was put under the influence of chloroform, and the wounds examined. Three of the shots took effect, two apparently flesh wounds, but the third entered just beneath the ribs and ranged upward. Staekhouse gave himself up to the sheriff and was lodged in jail.
